The key to a perfect party is the work that gets done beforehand. For outdoor fiestas, the majority of your prep will probably be the food you’re serving. Fortunately, all of this can be done the day of or even the evening before your big bash. Follow this simple party preparation countdown and it’ll be that much easier to remember the most important part of your party – to have fun!
The night before: Marinating magic
The night before your soirée, start your party prep with your marinade. Whether you’re using a store-bought recipe or creating your own, mix your marinade ingredients in a Ziploc® brand Double Zipper Freezer Bag. They accommodate all your ingredients and leave less mess and way easier cleanup than marinating in a bowl. If you’re making a few different types of meat, including fish or chicken, it makes sense to marinate each type of meat separately. Otherwise, just toss all the meat together in the bag in which you prepared the marinade.
The afternoon of: Veggies to go
Prepare all your salads and veggies the afternoon of the big night. Tossed salads and cut veggies can be stored in a Ziploc® brand Double Zipper Vegetable Bag to keep them crisp and fresh until the very last minute. If you’ve got a few vegetarians coming to your party, try impressing them with veggie kebabs! Cut up coloured peppers, eggplant, zucchini, red onion and cauliflower to create a delicious appetizer using a bamboo skewer. Store in the fridge and bring them out a few minutes before your guests arrive to get them grill-ready.
An hour before:
Once the whole family is all dressed and ready, set out the appetizers, check the marinades and put the finishing touch on everything. For a fresh looking garnish for your appetizers, cover the serving platter with full pieces of lettuce, red cabbage or kale. Lay out the rest of your appetizers in colourful serving bowls, do a final check of the backyard and don’t forget the ice! Store ice beforehand in Ziploc® brand Double Guard® Freezer bags in the freezer and transfer to a bucket just before your guests arrive. Turn on the tunes and let the party start!
